Neighborhood Talk: Lagoon Landscaping
Here is a comment from a reader:
"I have tried to email this to the landscape supervisor but was not successful.
I have recently moved into Mainstreet Neighborhood and have enjoyed living here thus far. I moved into a lot with a lagoon view and have enjoyed the view of not only the water but also the vision of the nature that circulates in and out of the area. However, I have a concern. With summer just around the corner and heat increasing everyday, this is prime time for snakes to begin crawling and lurking around. My family and I have seen several water moccasins around the pond and have come within feet of stepping on one while walking the dog. My concern with the lagoon is the landscape around the edges. It seems as if the grass and weeds in this area has been forgotten and is growing everyday. The area is attracting more critters due to not cutting and keeping the place clean. I have cut above and beyond the boundaries of my property in order to do my part to keep snakes out and keep the place looking presentable. However, it does not seem as if the neighborhood is doing there duty to keep the place clean. One thing that attracts and helps the homes appreciate in this area is the beauty of the facility. Also, we pay annually fees to help the neighborhood ensure the upkeep of common area.
At this time, I would like to ask the neighborhood officials to pay more attention to this particular area and arrive at a solution. Please notify me as well as the other lagoon front homeowners what we can do to assist in ensuring the water will be clean and attractive. "
